On the afternoon of July 13, the awarding ceremony for the first batch of trainees in the “High-level Talents Program of Xichu Scholars” was held in the lecture hall of Qiusuo Building. The participants included Xu De, Secretary of the Party Committee, Liu Zhiyuan, president of Suqian University, the heads of relevant functional departments, Party and government heads of secondary schools (departments), the first batch of 34 trainees in the "High-level Talents Program of Xichu Scholars" and 50 teacher representatives. It was presided over by Tian Yiju, the vice president of Suqian University.

President Liu Zhiyuan read the list of selected trainees at the ceremony, and relevant university leaders were awarded certificates. The training objects submitted their target responsibility statements in batches, and representatives of the trainees at different levels delivered speeches.To ensure training quality, Tian Yiju proposed three requirements: first of all, the selected trainees shall accomplish their tasks to high standards and at a high level of quality; second, the secondary schools shall perform their primary responsibilities of cultivating and administering the training objects; and finally, the functional departments shall duly perform their training, management and assessment duties.

The “High-level Talents Program of Xichu Scholars” is the university’s leading project to construct high-level talents teams. It aims to select and foster middle-aged outstanding talents with high political quality, proficient professional skills and strong innovation capability, hence providing qualified staff and academic support for promoting the construction of a high-level university with distinctive applied technologies.
