“As the bright moon shines over the sea, from far away you share this moment with me.” The Mid-autumn Festival is coming. In order to let international students improve their awareness of Chinese culture, feel the charm of traditional Chinese festival, better understand traditional Chinese culture, and tell better stories about China, on September 9th, the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange of Suqian University invited 21 international students to attend the cultural exchange event themed by "Reuniting on Mid-Autumn Festival, Appreciating Chinese Culture" in Room 1206, No. 1 Teaching Building.
Chinese participants of the event include Tong Maodi, Vice-Principal, Xu Quan, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, and all staff of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange.
First of all, Tong Maodi, Vice-Principal, extended warmest welcome to all international students coming to Suqian University for further study, and expressed his expectations on international students, i.e. 1) Cultivating the feeling of "knowing China, being friendly to China, and loving China", and aiming to be a Friendship Ambassador to promote international exchanges between China and foreign countries; 2) Disciplining, following COVID-19 prevention and control policies as well as rules and regulations of Suqian University; 3) Working hard to improve knowledge and broaden horizon. After the speech, Mr. Tong handed over moon cake gift boxes to 21 international students. Then, Xu Quan, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, used five differences to encourage international students to quickly adapt to life and study in Suqian University. Last but not least, Yuan Junjie, university counselor, explained the Mid-Autumn Festival from origin, legend and customs, helping international students better understand the festival and traditional Chinese culture.
The event came to an end with cheers and laughter of all participants.
